In celebration of National Apprenticeship Week (9-13 March 2015), Greenpower Education Trust currently has a selection of cars on display at the SMMT – including a Formula E School Series car, along with example F24 and F24+ electric vehicles.

Members of the Chelsea Academy Formula E School Series team will also be conducting a live build of their Formula E School Series car at the SMMT showroom in Great Peter Street, London, on Monday (March 9) to coincide with the start of National Apprenticeship Week.

Designed to get young people engaged in engineering, particularly sustainable engineering, at an early age, the charity Greenpower currently works with 500 schools, colleges and universities across the UK and the Formula E School Series began in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in January.

The Formula E School Series mirrors the domestic championships (IET Formula Goblin, IET F24, IET F24+ and Silverline Corporate Challenge) run by West Sussex-based Greenpower, by inviting students to build and race their own all-electric racing cars.

The full list of the 10 London schools that will field teams of students to take part in the FIA Formula E motor racing event in the Capital this summer are due to be announced shortly.

London’s Battersea Park will host Formula E’s inaugural season finale on 27-28 June, with a crowd of several thousand expected to watch.
