Popular brewery Greene King has expanded its drinks distribution fleet with the addition of 60 Don-Bur curtainsided bodies on a variety of vehicle types, including DAF and Isuzu.
The new fleet will operate from Greene King’s key distribution hubs in Bury St Edmunds, Abingdon, and Eastwood (Nottinghamshire), and has been supplied on six-year contract hire terms through Close Brothers Vehicle Hire and TIP Group.
Each vehicle is distinguished with a vivid livery featuring Greene King brands such as IPA, Old Speckled Hen and Abbot Ale.
Engineered for heavy-duty brewery operations, 45 of the trucks use the low-height, 26-tonne DAF 6X2 ‘XD’ 340-day cab chassis. The ultra-low floor height is ideal for efficient side loading kegs of beer.
The rest of the new vehicles include 16 and 18-tonne DAF XB rigids, 7.5-tonne Isuzu chassis, and four 13.6m curtainsided semi-trailers.
All rigid bodies have been adapted to suit the specific loading dock configurations at Green King’s new flagship distribution centre in Bury St Edmunds.
A Greene King spokesperson said: “We’ve developed our highly bespoke brewery vehicle specification over many years in close partnership with Don-Bur, DAF, and our contract hire providers. Their shared experience and sector knowledge have been instrumental in delivering a fleet tailored to our unique operational needs.”
