On the 3 June 2014, the SMMT will hold a training workshop covering the process of obtaining UK National Small Series and European Community Type Approval.
The one day course will provide information and guidance on:
- The different routes to obtain Type Approval.
- Conformity of Production.
- Completion of the Type Approval application form.
- Supporting Technical File documentation.
- Creation of a Certificate of Conformity.
Sessions will include practical use and examples of the completion of each of the documents required for in the Type Approval process and how the ‘SMMT European and National Type Approval’ (SENTA) web tool can speed-up and simplify documentation preparation and compilation.
The Workshop will run at SMMT’s Industry Forum office near Birmingham from 09:30 to 16:30 on 3 June. For SMMT members and registered SENTA users, the course costs £100+VAT and £175+VAT for non SMMT members. Numbers are limited to a maximum of 20 and all places will be issued on a first come, first served basis.

Type Approval Consultancy Service
In addition to the Type Approval workshop, the SMMT has also launched its Type Approval Consultancy Service. This cost effective service is available at a daily rate of £600+VAT for SMMT members £750+VAT for non-members (all paying additional travel and subsistence).
SMMT’s experienced Technical team can assist in obtaining Type Approval from the initial meeting with the Vehicle Certification Agency (VCA), through paperwork, vehicle inspection and issue of the Certificate of Conformity (CoC).
