London-based City Circle UK has returned to Scania to order 16 new i6 coaches for its growing programme of tours and corporate charter services.

The new additions are all 12.9 metres long with Scania’s K 410 6×2*4 rear-steer chassis, 410bhp Euro-6 SCR-only engines and fully-automated Opticruise gear selection system.

The Irizar i6 body of each coach carries 53 passengers in reclining seats that feature leather and extra padded flaps, while a sunken toilet/washroom and kitchen are located at each vehicle’s centre exit. Additional features include Durabright aluminium wheels, reversing and road cameras and integrated satellite navigation. The coach bodies are finished with extra dark tinted double-glazing.

City Circle UK Managing Director Neil Pegg said, “I had the opportunity to evaluate the new Euro-6 13-litre Scania with the tri-axle Irizar i6 body last season and it performed superbly. Driver and passenger feedback has also been excellent. I have been so impressed with the performance of the Scania, the complete package on offer and the flexibility to find the best solution possible for my vehicle requirements.

“Choosing Scania was an easy decision. The finished product looks great and we look forward to operating these vehicles on our increasing programme of tours around the UK and Ireland for incoming tourists, and corporate charter services.”

Scania’s General Manager of Retail Sales Martin West added, “We are delighted to supply City Circle with these superbly specified vehicles to add to their prestigious fleet. All of the vehicles are fitted with our 10-year fleet management system and City Circle will benefit from a product training day at our Loughborough training centre, a service we launched recently to add to our growing complete package offered with all Euro-6 purchases.”
