One of the UK’s biggest bus manufacturers, Optare, has signed a distribution arrangement to take its buses to Australia and New Zealand.

The contract with new distributor Bus Corp Oceania Pty Ltd (BCO) was signed at Optare’s head office in Sherburn-in-Elmet, North Yorkshire, after senior representatives of BCO visited the UK with a group of prospective customers.

The visit included a tour of UK customers to talk about their own experiences with Optare buses, a comprehensive evaluation of the Metrocity Euro 6 Diesel, Metrocity EV, Solo EV and Metrodecker EV and a visit to the Optare factory, also at the Sherburn-in-Elmet base.

Graham Belgum, Optare President, said, “I am delighted to see that our relationship with BCO is already delivering enquiries from new territories in line with our plans to strengthen the Optare presence and increase the expansion of the brand in Australia and New Zealand.”

Jason Pecotic, BCO General Manager, added “We are looking forward to writing the next chapter of the Optare story in Australia and New Zealand”

BCO assumes responsibility for the sale and maintenance of Optare buses as well as the development of its EV business in the Australasian markets.
