Commercial Vehicle Show bounces back for 2021

24 June 2021 #Features & Interviews

The Commercial Vehicle Show will be back stronger than ever this summer when it opens its doors on 31 August until 2 September at the NEC, Birmingham.

The show will present the first opportunity in more than two years for fleet managers, business owners, and transport operators to come together to discuss solutions for the challenges faced by the industry.

After the twin challenges of a global pandemic and an evolving regulatory landscape, the CV Show will host a series of live discussions where sector leaders, innovators and commentators will address key industry issues. Over the course of the show’s three days, these discussions will offer unmissable advice and insight as commercial operators look to the future.

Murray Ellis, Show Director, said, “The atmosphere is building as hundreds of exhibitors and thousands of visitors look to welcome back live networking, face-to-face business and new product launches at the 2021 Commercial Vehicle Show. It remains the most important event in the calendar for everyone working in road transport operations, logistics and distribution-based businesses.

“As well as hundreds of exhibitors from across the road transport sector presenting their latest products and services including leading vehicle manufacturers, the 2021 Commercial Vehicle Show will also host a live programme across two theatres featuring expert speakers from different sectors of the road transport industry presenting educational and informative sessions on a variety of topics. With all the changes that have been impacting the sector in the last year, these discussions will provide essential advice and information for every operator.”

More than 200 companies have confirmed their attendance at the show, including commercial vehicle manufacturers such as Ford, Toyota, Isuzu, Maxus, LEVC and SsangYong. They will be joined by an ever-growing number of component suppliers, technology companies, equipment manufacturers, financial experts and government agencies.

The show presents an unrivalled opportunity for exhibitors to demonstrate their latest products and services to key decision makers, and to do so at a time when the industry is looking forward to renewing relationships.

Kate Gibbs, spokesperson for show partner the Road Haulage Association (RHA), said: “This is an industry that is known for facing its challenges head on and the upheaval of the past year has been no exception. There have been business casualties along the way, but the majority of commercial vehicle operators have weathered the storm.

“There’s still a tremendously long way to go and it will be a very long time, if ever, before things return to normal, but one of the many things at which we as an industry excel is the ability to adapt and this year’s CV Show will clearly reflect that.”

The Institute of Road Transport Engineers (IRTE), is a professional sector of the Society of Operations Engineers (SOE) and is another key partner for the CV Show.

Bruce McGill, CEO of the SOE, said, “The Commercial Vehicle Show is a great opportunity to reconnect with the road transport industry in an environment that is set up for business. It is the most important exhibitor event in the road transport calendar and provides visitors with an opportunity to learn about the latest product innovations and best practice within the sector.

“The show offers something for everyone, whether you are a fleet manager, engineer, director or commercial vehicle enthusiast.”

Mike Hawes, SMMT Chief Executive, said, “The CV Show is Britain’s biggest automotive trade event, where many SMMT members showcase the UK commercial vehicle sector’s incredible quality and capability. This year’s show is vital, after such a challenging year that has seen the CV industry tested like never before, but now eagerly looking ahead and considering fleet renewal.

“With the phase-out of new fossil fuel-powered vans from 2030, the CV Show is the perfect place for operators to research and discuss their future needs as they rebuild for a post-Covid, post-Brexit world.”

The Commercial Vehicle Show will take place from 31 August to 2 September at the NEC in Birmingham. The event, organised by the Institute of Road Transport Engineers (IRTE), the Road Haulage Association (RHA), and the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), is free to attend.
