DAF introduces dedicated electric vehicle technician training

20 January 2022 #Truck

DAF has begun dedicated electric vehicle training for its dealer-based technicians ahead of new deliveries for UK customers in the next few weeks.

The training, carried out at its UK head office in Haddenham, Buckinghamshire, includes in-depth EV maintenance and diagnosis procedures specific to DAF’s range of electric vehicles.

It comes as the first of DAF’s right-hand drive LF Electric and CF Electric models enter service, following their initial demonstrations last year.

The training content will be provided in addition to IMI Level-3 Electric/Hybrid Vehicle System Repair & Replacement training, which all participants in DAF EV product training have already successfully completed.

These form part of a comprehensive programme of activities to prepare the dealer network for the uptake of EVs, with significant investment also going into tooling and charging infrastructure.

Suzanne Moore, DAF Training Manager said: “We’re making sure we’re fully-prepared to support customers as they adopt DAF electric vehicles into their UK operations.

“We have electric vehicles entering regular operation, we offer a range of mobile and static charging options and we now have fully-trained technicians in place in the network.

“And of course, with the UK’s largest network of 135 dealer locations we can make sure that the necessary aftersales support is right where it needs to be; close to our customers and the routes on which their vehicles will operate.”
