Tell us a bit about the history of Totalkare?

Totalkare’s origins can be traced back to the early fifties when Walter Somers Handling created a manufacturing assembly centre in Halesowen. In 1980, we introduced our first mobile columnlift and in the years that followed we established ourselves as the UK market leader for this product. More recently our portfolio has expanded into a variety of lifting and testing equipment which has seen the company grow sharply over the last five years.

What sort of workshop equipment do you currently market?

Five years ago, Totalkare would have been seen by many as a vehicle lifting company with a specialism in mobile column lifts. These days there’s very little commercial vehicle workshop equipment we don’t supply – everything from inspection pits to brake testers, tyre changers, wheel alignment, headlamp testers, class 7 MOT bays, four and two-post lifts, wash bay lifts, workshop furniture and more.

We’re finding that more and more customers are approaching us for full workshop fit-out projects where we’ll undertake the civil works too. Our slogan is “For workshop equipment, it’s Totalkare”, and that pretty much sums it up.

Tell us about the servicing and financial packages you offer customers?

Anyone working with mechanical equipment understands that from time to time you may require assistance, and Totalkare has more than 30 field service engineers based across the UK to ensure we can respond quickly in those instances while also proactively managing the maintenance of these crucial pieces of equipment. One of our key strengths is the quality of our people, and our customers appreciate the expertise we have in the field.

We also work hard to support the wellbeing and engagement of our people, and this has led to Totalkare being named an “Outstanding Company To Work For” by Best Companies earlier this year.

Totalkare is partnered with PMD Finance and offers a range of flexible finance options to those looking to invest in workshop equipment. These include lease hire and lease purchase, zero deposit and low-start finance, short-term hire and, of course, outright purchase.
