A vacancy now exists for a Products and Services Manager in the Member Services and Business Development department.


  • Manage the development and delivery of Member Services (products and services) ensuring
    • relevance to members and industry stakeholders
    • high engagement levels
    • delivery of member value.
  • Manage the development and delivery of SMMT’s Automotive Supplier Finder database ensuring it remains the primary database of UK automotive suppliers.  Manage the engagement with members and stakeholders (including RFIs and RFQs) and support Meet the Buyer, Open Access and other related activities
  • Support the modernisation and digitisation of SMMT’s membership engagement ensuring the member journey and experience is best in class and industry leading
  • Support marketing and promotions to help engagement, recruitment and retention of members from across the automotive and adjacent sectors, with a focus on lead generation.


  • Graduate level with a business, technology or IT background but other degrees considered
  • Experience in project management and customer/client support
  • Experience developing and delivering web based services (technical background not necessary but advantageous)
  • Experience of developing and delivering events
  • Ability to multi-task and work effectively on different projects without supervision
  • Self-starter with a pro-active approach who possesses a strong sense of initiative
  • Highly organised with a structured approach to project management
  • Ability to co-ordinate data and present it in an easily read format
  • Focused with the ability to work under pressure and commitment to delivering results on time and to budget
  • Reliable and solid team player with a strong sense of shared objectives and common goals
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Internet
  • Effective communication and presentation skills – both oral and written
  • Highly motivated team player with good interpersonal skills and ability to form good working relationships with people.


  • Manage the development and delivery of member services portfolio of product and services ensuring they are relevant, well used and remain an attractive proposition to members and prospective members
  • Lead on the development and delivery of current & new products and services ensuring relevance to both business climate and members’ needs and helping to broaden our engagement with members and stakeholders
  • Manage SMMT’s Automotive Supplier Finder (ASF) service, including RFI/FRQ requests and ensure the functionality, usage, reach and relevance of this key SMMT product is maintained
  • Fully utilise ASF to support the delivery of Meet the Buyer, Open Access and other related activities and maximise membership recruitment and retention campaigns – this is a key driver for membership performance
  • Support the membership modernisation/digitalisation programme to deliver an enhanced member journey and experience – working closely with colleagues to develop, enhance and deliver member portal, systems and applications and updating the website where necessary
  • Support the recruitment and retention of new and existing members with a focus on developing membership leads, including tracking acquired leads
  • Support the Director of Member Services with other projects and activities as required, including processing departmental invoices & expenses and meetings administration
  • Support the marketing and promotions of product and services to members and prospective members
  • Support the delivery of membership focussed events as well as attend external events and meetings and where required, represent/present on SMMT activities
  • Provide administrative support for relevant meetings/events, including preparation of agendas, minutes and reports and ensure that agreed actions are implemented.
