Electra has launched new 7.5-tonne and 9.2-tonne eCargo platforms, expanding its electric line-up below the proven 12-tonne model.
The new platforms feature full-size cabs, ensuring enhanced ergonomics, more space, and greater comfort for both drivers and crews, making them suited to urban stop/start operations, municipal collections, and a wide range of commercial applications.
This builds on the proven success of Electra’s 12t eCargo, which has been operating reliably for more than four years across diverse applications.
Electra’s new eCargo platforms offer configurable battery placement, allowing operators and bodybuilders to choose between external chassis-mounted or internal frame installations.
They are suited to caged tipper applications, where their payload capacity, flexible chassis layout, and cab design provide significant advantages.
In addition, they are designed to meet upcoming Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) legislation that will require all households in England to receive separate weekly food waste collections before April next year.
Benjamin Smith, Managing Director, Electra Commercial Vehicles said: “The launch of our 7.5t and 9.2t eCargo platforms represents a major step forward in Electra’s mission to accelerate zero emission transport.
“We are proud to introduce another platform into our lineup which combines comfort, versatility, and proven technology.”
Other key features of the platforms are a 140 kWh thermally managed battery pack, 150 kW DC fast charging capability for rapid turnaround, as well as an eight-year battery warranty.
The vehicles are available to order immediately, with demonstrators due on the road shortly for customer trials.
To mark the launch, meanwhile, Electra is offering a free chassis with the first five orders placed in October.
