We talk a lot about technology in the automotive sector but business growth continues to depend on connecting with people, getting in the same room, and building relationships – which is exactly what SMMT’s events are designed to achieve. And with a flurry of activities is coming up, now is the perfect chance to get involved.
These include Britain’s flagship annual International Automotive Summit, returning to London on 30 June to bring together hundreds of senior industry leaders, government and media for a one-day conference on the UK’s future growth – including panel discussions and keynotes, including a UK HGV maker and new gigafactory developer. Importantly, the event also provides the chance for informal conversations for attendees – between sessions and over coffee – where real connections are made and potential partnerships take seed.
If you can’t make it to London, SMMT takes the same focus on building in-person relationships with our Regional Networking series – with the next event taking place in Warton, near Preston on 25 June, before heading to Wednesbury, near Walsall on 15 July. If your business is based in the Lancashire or West Midlands regions with growth ambitions, or want to expand into these regions, consider getting involved here.
Welsh businesses also have a key opportunity with SMMT’s next Regional Forum heading to Newport on 9 July, bringing together senior representatives from the country’s automotive ecosystem – from OEMs to suppliers, government and stakeholders – to help shape business strategy, operations and policy. With key speakers already confirmed including Aston Martin, Vishay Europe and Welsh Government Cabinet Minister, MS Adam Price, it promises to be a valuable chance to join the dots between like-minded businesses in Wales.
Whatever your strategy and targets for the years to come, if you are growth-minded, want to stay informed or seize new opportunities, I’d encourage getting involved and being part of SMMT’s conversations.
