Truck torque: How racing helps promote road transport

18 Jun 2026

The British Truck Racing Championship (BTRC) is one of the UK’s most thrilling motorsport series, combining high-powered racing machines with top quality engineering and fierce competition.

This year’s championship is delivering another exciting spectacle, with race weekends held at some of the UK’s most iconic circuits, including Brands Hatch, Pembrey, Thruxton, Donington Park, and Snetterton.

However, as the elite level of commercial vehicle competition in the UK, the series is also an opportunity for firms across the industry to showcase their products and deliver important messages.

For example, FleetSafe is the official camera and speed monitoring partner for the championship, which features five-tonne machines delivering more than 1,000 bhp, and reaching speeds of 100mph.

Working alongside Truck Sport, the British Automobile Racing Club and governing body Motorsport UK, the company supplies, configures and provides ongoing support for all camera and monitoring systems.

Every competitor across Division 1 and Division 2 has their truck fitted with FleetSafe equipment, and the firm delivers structured training and operational guidance for race teams, officials and events staff at races to help them operate equipment consistently.

Cameras film incident evidence from the races, reducing ambiguity in review and providing a robust audit trail from capture through to decision-making.

Changes this season include upgraded regulation camera hardware and mounting standards to improve coverage and usability, as well as faster access to relevant clips and data during reviews.

The technology also includes a clearer paper trail for footage and data to support transparent decision-making.

Importantly, hauliers and fleets can adopt similar technology to that used at the race meetings to improve their everyday operations.

Dean Leonard, VP of Technical Operations at FleetSafe, said: “Motorsport depends on trust in the rules and the way they’re applied.

“This partnership is about raising the bar on the tools and the operational discipline around them, so competitors and organisers have greater confidence in the data, the review process and the outcome.”

Meanwhile, both Silvey Fleet – a fuel card and fleet management product specialist – and BWOC, one of the UK’s biggest fuel suppliers, have worked with the BTRC to significantly reduce CO2 emissions through the provision of Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) to teams and drivers.

Produced from 100% renewable and sustainable feedstocks, the renewable diesel can achieve a net 90% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.

Also, it is a safe and easy alternative that can be used in place of conventional diesel without having to make any engine modifications.

LTS Global Solutions, the official transport partner of the series, was attracted to its partnership with the BTRC because of a shared commitment to sustainability.

As part of its agreement with the series, LTS branding has also featured across all competing race trucks, podium backdrops, official website and other media channels.

Dave Hands, Managing Director at LTS Global Solutions said: “Last season was such a great experience for us as a company being involved with the BTRC as it gave us a front-row seat to the non-stop action and allowed us to give back to an industry which we live and breathe.

“As a logistics partner, we believe that a modern supply chain is a responsible one.

“This means finding cleaner, more sustainable ways to keep the world moving. Supporting an event that actively pushes these boundaries aligns perfectly with our own environmental goals.”

Dynes Motor Group is the official recovery partner for the championship, and its extensive experience working with national recovery networks and fleet operators makes them a vital part of the championship’s operational team.

Operating heavy and light vehicle recovery services, Dynes provides a 24-hour, 365-day service, capable of recovering everything from motorcycles through to fully loaded 44-tonne articulated trucks.

Andy Nock, Managing Director at Dynes Motor Group said the demands of truck racing require a recovery partner that can react quickly, operate safely, and handle specialist machinery under pressure.

He added: “Having supported the championship previously, we know the passion, professionalism and excitement that surrounds it.

“Our team is committed to delivering the highest standards of recovery support, ensuring that drivers, teams and organisers can rely on us whenever it matters most.”

At a time when the industry is looking to attract new drivers and technicians, as well as fill other key positions, any product that generates excitement around the industry is to be welcomed.

One example is the partnership between Truck Sport UK – the organisers of the BTRC – and Fantasy Motorsport Crossover, a fantasy motorsport platform that allows fans to manage virtual teams of drivers and compete against fellow enthusiasts in bespoke leagues.

Designed to integrate championships from around the world, Fantasy Motorsport Crossover allows users to pick a new team on a week-by-week basis, depending on who is racing on that given weekend.

From there, participants can follow selected drivers as they battle to earn points, all of which can then be applied to battle friends for a place on the podium in any of the leagues that have been created.

Access to the platform is free and can be downloaded onto a phone or computer.

As part of this collaboration, all 2026 competitors from the BTRC and Pickup Truck Racing Championship are available to be selected alongside a host of other global stars.

Ben Turner, Fantasy Motorsport Crossover Founder & Managing Director, said: “This collaboration brings the raw power, high-speed action, and close-quarters battles of truck and pickup racing into the Fantasy Motorsport Crossover platform like never before.

“Fans can now build dream teams, compete in weekly leagues, and earn exclusive rewards based on real-world results from these hard-charging UK championships.

“This is more than just fantasy points – it’s about celebrating the skill, engineering, and spectacle of truck racing.”

Aside from the excitement offered by the racing, the BTRC provides an important marketing platform, as well as a chance to network for truck manufacturers, dealer groups and suppliers.

While the championship continues to provide opportunities for them to display and test their products, the series should continue to thrive.
