SMMT strengthens automotive links in China
Matt Smith, Head of International, shares about international activities for the August edition of the SMMT International Update.
Last week, SMMT partnered with UK government’s newly formed Department for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade (DBIST) on a trade mission to China, meeting with manufacturers and industry stakeholders in Shanghai and Chongqing.
UK delegates joined the New Energy Vehicle Forum in Shanghai, before visiting Nio, Seres and Changan. For companies new to China or looking to deepen their understanding and contact base, these visits offer a curated programme for SMMT members, providing access to companies and people who would otherwise be hard to reach.
SMMT will return to China in October for the World Intelligent Connected Vehicle Conference and company meetings in Beijing. If you are interested in learning more about the event or exploring opportunities to engage with the Chinese market, please get in touch.
Finally, back in London later this year, we are excited to announce Ian Hislop, Editor of Private Eye and renowned British satirist, will be an after-dinner speaker at SMMT’s 2026 Annual Dinner. It gives more reason for the event to be something to look forward to after a busy year. Have a good break over the summer.
