Volvo Trucks’ recently updated heavy-duty electric range has won the International Truck of the Year award for 2027.
Offering a driving range of up to 435 miles, Volvo Trucks’ line-up of eight electric models includes the Volvo FH, FM, FMX, and FH Aero Electric trucks.
Delivering increased range, improved payload, and reduced charging time compared to previous models, the range is designed for regional and long-haul transport, city distribution, construction, and utility work.
For the 2027 award, the jury praised the way Volvo has developed its electric portfolio beyond a single vehicle or application.
They particularly highlighted how a combination of longer range, different cab and chassis configurations and different solutions can be tailored to a variety of transport assignments.
The annual award is given to the truck or range introduced into the market in the previous 12 months that has made the most significant contribution to road transport efficiency.
Several key criteria are evaluated, including technological innovation, comfort, safety, drivability, energy efficiency, environmental footprint, and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
Today, nearly 2,000 customers in more than 50 countries use electric Volvo Trucks in their daily operations.
Roger Alm, President of Volvo Trucks, who accepted the award during the prize ceremony at IAA Transportation said: ““We see a great demand for our new electric models.
“The new range makes it possible for even more operations to choose zero tailpipe emission transport.”
