After one of the busiest first halves to a year in recent times, SMMT is planning ahead for the ever active Autumn period – and a series of key events for our commercial vehicle members are on the horizon. Among them, following the success of two Meet the Van Converter events, we will shift focus to heavier vehicles, with the newly launched Meet the Heavy Body Builder on 12 September.
The event, taking place at SMMT’s offices in London, is tailored to encourage collaboration between body builders and leading truck OEMs and their technical teams – with 1-2-1 meetings providing unique opportunities to raise business profile, explore prospective partnerships and develop technical alignment. The event will also feature an exclusive update from SMMT’s Economics team, providing valuable market insights. Body builders have until 22 August to register their interest here.
Elsewhere, SMMT Regional Forum is scheduled for 15 October at the Oxford Belfry Hotel & Spa, part of a series of regional events aimed at strengthening the UK automotive supply chain. These forums bring together manufacturers, suppliers and stakeholders to discuss regional challenges and opportunities – with the event including panel discussions, industry updates and networking sessions, all designed to support business growth and innovation.
In particular, Regional Forum provides a platform for local suppliers to connect with locally-based national and international OEMs, fostering collaboration and investment in regional capabilities. Given the event takes place in a different parts of the country each year, if this event is located near your business, this is your chance to get involved. Indeed, this year’s event will be attended by DAF Trucks and Bamford Bus Company, owner of Wrightbus – both of which have headquarters nearby. You can register your interest for the event here.
Finally, the 108th SMMT Annual Dinner will bring the industry together at one of the prestigious events in the UK automotive calendar. Taking place on 25 November in London, the dinner gathers senior industry leaders, policymakers and media for an evening of networking and reflection over the past year in the sector.
This flagship event traditionally features keynote speeches from influential figures, including government representatives and industry executives addressing the state of the sector and future outlook; the presentation of industry awards, recognising excellence and innovation across the automotive landscape; and a high-profile guest speaker providing entertainment.
The Annual Dinner is not only a social highlight but also a strategic opportunity, to engage with decision makers and shape the narrative for the year ahead. With only a few tables left, head here to book yours.
