A Lancashire-based operator has ordered two Alexander Dennis Enviro200 single deck buses to use on a hospital transport service launched earlier this year.
Moving People will use the vehicles on the route linking Royal Blackburn Hospital and Burnley General Hospital as well as the respective town centres.
This service – which is fully commercial and operates without financial support from NHS trusts or local councils – provides access to healthcare facilities for local residents and easier commutes for hospital staff.
Glen Chamberlain, Moving People, Managing Director said: “These new Alexander Dennis Enviro200 buses give us a reliable base for our new hospital service while keeping our costs in check, providing a winning combination for our fleet.”
The versatile vehicles are the first Alexander Dennis buses the company has bought new from the manufacturer.
They provide reliability and comfort for passengers, with room for up to 40 seated passengers as well as a wheelchair user and buggies.
The Enviro200 is accredited as a Low Emission Bus when fitted with the SmartPack efficiency technology, developed in-house by Alexander Dennis.
It can be tailored to suit a wide variety of uses including busy city services, regional buses and airport transfers and delivers a bespoke journey experience with a choice of features such as skylights, social seating, mood lighting or device charging.
Simon Wood, Regional Sales Manager at Alexander Dennis, said: “It’s rewarding to know that our Enviro200 buses help to enable the commercial provision of such a vital link thanks to their competitive operating costs.”
