Tell us about your Crossway Elec model?
The Crossway Elec, the second electric version of the iconic Crossway range, has been designed to decarbonise school and intercity transport.
It stands out for its flexibility and modularity in battery choice, offering tailored autonomy for both short trips and longer journeys of up to 500km, while preserving luggage and passenger capacity.
In October, at an award ceremony at the Busworld event in Brussels, the vehicle was crowned Sustainable Bus of the Year 2026.
The jury, made up of journalists from 10 European countries – the UK, Italy, France, Germany, Finland, Slovenia, Hungary, Romania, Poland, and Spain – focused heavily on the overarching principles of sustainable development adopted by Iveco, both in design and production, to provide a zero-emission and sustainable intercity transport solution.
Receiving the award is a great source of pride for us and testifies to our long-standing commitment to more sustainable and decarbonised mobility.
Describe the Iveco Group’s approach to decarbonisation?
At Iveco Group, sustainability is not a threat, it’s a strategic imperative. That is why we have made a clear pledge – to be net zero carbon by 2040.
Our vision is powered by a multi-energy strategy. We are making fast progress on the path to electrification with a real focus on CO2 reduction targets and supporting our customers with their energy transition. This means offering a full range of green solutions, from bio-fuels to battery electric and hydrogen, so that every customer can find the right fit for their mission and operation, wherever they are based.
Furthermore, we are building the future of mobility with our own battery systems, energy infrastructure and digital ecosystems, ensuring our customers have everything they need for a seamless transition.
Decarbonisation is a collective issue and it requires change at every level – industrial, political, and financial. Our role is to make this transition possible, to make it accessible and to make it sustainable for our customers, partners and the community we serve.
We are ready to support operators wherever they are on the energy transition journey.
What accolades has Iveco Group received in the area of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG)?
Iveco Group has been awarded the Platinum Medal by EcoVadis, one of the foremost providers of business sustainability ratings worldwide. With a score of 85/100, we ranked in the top 1% of more than 150,000 companies EcoVadis assessed globally over a one-year period.
EcoVadis evaluates the sustainability performance of companies through a rigorous analysis of 21 criteria across four core themes: environment, labour & human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement.
We received the Gold Medal in 2023 and this upgrade to Platinum highlights our commitment to continuous improvement and to integrating ESG priorities into our strategy and operations.
How important is circularity for Iveco Group?
The concept of circularity is very important to extend the life cycle of our products as much as possible. From the design stage, our strategy carefully considers all elements – materials, technologies, and the possibility of reuse.
We are investing in regional supply chains, strengthening local material recovery and applying circular practice from design to end of life. This is the compass guiding the path to the next generation of vehicles.
