Tell us about Schmitz Cargobull?

Schmitz Cargobull manufactures semi-trailers for temperature-controlled freight, general cargo and bulk goods and is a pioneer in digital solutions for trailer services and improved connectivity. We also manufacture transport refrigeration machines for refrigerated semi-trailers for temperature-controlled freight transport.

In addition, our new Box Van, which is designed specifically for dry freight, combines robustness, sustainability and low tare weight with a new sandwich panel technology.

With a range of services from financing, spare parts supply, service contracts and telematics solutions to used vehicle trading, we support our customers in optimising their total cost of ownership and digital transformation.

What about your new cooling unit?

The new diesel-powered S.CU dc90 transport cooling unit is designed to reduce fuel consumption and thus lower operating costs in everyday use. It delivers up to 6% more cooling capacity and reduces pull-down time by up to 21%. This means that the S.CU dc90 cools the cargo area of the trailer from +30°C to -20°C around 30 minutes faster than its predecessor, the S.CU dc85. This higher performance ensures shorter running times and noticeably lower fuel consumption. The transport refrigeration unit also improves uptime and reduces maintenance efforts. The newly developed, hermetic two-stage reciprocating compressor minimises wear in the refrigeration circuit, resulting in significantly lower maintenance and repair costs. Reduced noise levels – especially in partial load operation – also improve driver comfort.

For operations with electrified tractor units, the S.CU dc90 offers additional flexibility thanks to the ePTO interface, which can be operated emission-free via the tractor unit’s electric power take-off.

With the introduction of the refrigerant R454A in the S.CU modular system in Europe, Schmitz Cargobull is reacting early to the stricter EU F-gas regulations. The refrigerant R454A is a future-proof alternative with a significantly lower direct Global Warming Potential (GWP) value, reducing the CO2 equivalent by 89% compared to the previously used refrigerant R452A. The S.CU dc90 can also be operated as usual with the CO2-neutral fuel HVO100 (EN15940).

The S.CU dc90 transport cooling unit is mounted on the highly economical S.KO COOL reefer semi-trailer. The refrigerated box body with Ferroplast panels provide excellent insulation, with a k-value from 0.295 W/m²K in series production.

The TrailerConnect telematics system, fitted as standard, provides transparency and end-to-end documentation of the refrigeration chain. Additional features include TAPA security components, TL4 door locking system, pharmaceutical certification, Schmitz Cargobull axles, two pallet boxes, DRP rear protection, ISO partition V6 solid moving bulkhead and internal rear cooling unit control panel.

Describe the S.CS Freepost curtainsider semi-trailer from Schmitz Cargobull?

The Manchester-built S.CS Freepost curtainsider semi-trailer without sliding posts is specially equipped for transport requirements in the UK and Ireland. With a fixed aluminium roof and steel cant rail, the curtainsider is certified according to DIN EN 12642 Code XL. A reinforced chassis structure means it is particularly robust and ideal for quick, easy and safe side loading. Additional features include full length LED internal lighting, full width compression bar, rear roof vortex and Schmitz Cargobull 22.5” Drum Brake Axle.

The trailer also comes with the Schmitz Cargobull TrailerConnect telematics system, fitted as standard. All Manchester-built Schmitz Cargobull trailers have the Electronic Brake Performance Monitoring System (EBPMS) functionality, allowing hauliers to enhance road safety, reduce vehicle downtime, meet legislative compliance and save money.

How important is the Commercial Vehicle Show for TVL?

The Commercial Vehicle Show is an important event for us because it brings together the entire industry under one roof. It’s a chance to showcase new ideas, connect with operators and manufacturers, and understand the challenges businesses are facing.

These conversations help shape future solutions and ensure we continue to deliver security products that meet real-world needs.
