The evening before the Autumn Budget this week, SMMT held its 108th Annual Dinner and it was one of the most successful in recent memory, joined by more than 1,000 people, the Rt Hon Peter Kyle MP, Secretary of State for Business and Trade, and a raft of other politicians including a number of former Business Secretaries. It was positive to hear the Secretary of State’s commitment to partnership with our industry, and to continue government’s backing of UK Automotive as a pillar of national strategic importance – and we saw a series of announcements this week which reflect that commitment.
