Scania has further strengthened its network in the UK with the opening of a branch in Stockton-on-Tees, an area where trucks serve the oil refineries, freight port and the region’s large chemicals, steel and heavy industries.
The Stockton site will replace Scania’s Darlington branch, which has been operational for more than 40 years and was working close to capacity.
It will employ 34 employees, growing to 40 in due course.
Before selecting a new location, Scania analysed its UK service network, taking into considering the location of customer base, the vehicle parc, regional industries, EV grid capacity and nearby road infrastructure.
The new building is 2,281 square metres in size and is fitted with six inspection bays.
These include three maintenance bays, two service pits, an authorised testing facility (ATF) lane, a DSEAR gas bay and an internal wash with water recycling functionality.
The Stockton workshop is also able to cater for gas and battery electric vehicles and the six-acre site offers electric vehicle charging, with four 22kW vehicle chargers installed and future energy provision made for truck charging.

“We needed to move our operations to a larger location, and now this new workshop is ready, it shows Scania means business – not only to our colleagues and customers, but also the local community and region.”
