Trane Technologies has boosted its position in the UK refrigerated transport sector after completing the purchase of Thermo King Northern.
Based in Carlisle, with additional service locations in Glasgow and County Durham, Thermo King Northern provides transport refrigeration, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), commercial refrigeration and cold storage services, including equipment installation, maintenance, repairs, and tail-lift support to customers.
Trane Technologies, which operates under its Thermo King transport refrigeration brand, confirmed that Thermo King Northern will now continue operating as part of Thermo King UK.
Thermo King Northern has represented Thermo King as a dealership in northern England and Scotland for more than 40 years, selling, distributing and working as a service provider for its transport refrigerated solutions.
The acquisition includes Thermo King Northern’s full operations, its strong customer base, and a team of service engineers and transport refrigeration solutions experts.
It marks another major step in Thermo King’s strategy to continue expanding its network in the UK and across Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).
This also follows the company’s purchase of Marshall Fleet Solutions in March 2025, and together, these strategic investments aim to significantly expand the scale, reach, and leadership of Thermo King UK as the company accelerates growth.
