Carr’s Flour has marked the 125th anniversary of its Essex mill with a new gold-liveried Volvo FH Globetrotter XLtractor.
The new Volvo FH 6×2 tractor unit, supplied by MC Truck & Bus, is equipped with I-Shift Dual Clutch transmission and powered by the 500hp D13K Euro-6 engine.
Its specification includes a full leather interior, swivelling passenger seat, television, microwave oven and 33-litre fridge/freezer, while the I-Park Cool, Volvo’s intelligent overnight air conditioning system, will provide 1,000 W of all-night cooling capacity.
There are also LED headlights, Alcoa Dura-Bright alloy wheels and a roof-mounted bar with LED lights and air horns, as well as a wet kit and blower supplied by Gardner Denver.
The Globetrotter XL joins a 10-strong fleet already featuring one Volvo FH, an FM and FE, which are used at its mills in Maldon, Fife and Cumbria to supply bakeries and food manufacturers across the UK.
Carr’s Flour expects its latest vehicle to clock up about 130,000km a year and operate five to six days a week.
The tractor unit has been secured on a five-year finance lease agreement through Volvo Financial Services, replacing an older vehicle previously supplied by Volvo.
