In this edition, SMMT International looks at both Europe and Asia and the opportunities for businesses with innovative technologies in the automotive supply chain. We have some great events planned to help you explore new export markets, showcase your brand and connect with potential partners and other contacts with relevant expertise.
The UK Pavilion at Automechanika Dubai from 2 to 4 October will provide a platform for UK companies to explore the vast opportunities in the aftermarket sector, not just in the UAE but across the broader Asian region, arguably the world’s fastest-growing market. We are also hosting a UK Pavilion at the Korea International Future Auto & Mobility Expo (DIFA) in Daegu 19-21 October, where we will not just support the UK’s presence at the Expo but provide a programme of meetings and potential business opportunities in this major automotive hub.
Turning to Europe, Central and Eastern Europe will be a focus of our attention with the Automotive Forum Olomouc in Czech Republic on 24-25 October which will feature two days of networking, discussion and B2B meetings. In a similar vein, we are attending the Baden-Württemberg Suppliers Day in Esslingen in Germany on the 16 November which will feature an automotive conference and networking event, helping introduce UK companies to German automotive suppliers in what is one of Germany’s major automotive regions.
Finally, and closer to home, we hope to see many of you at our SMMT Electrified event, taking place on 18 September at the QEII Centre, London. This event was originally scheduled for March but the train strikes forced us to “shunt” it to September. Nevertheless, we have retained a high-profile speaker line up and have an agenda-setting platform to discuss how the industry, stakeholders and government can accelerate the transition to zero emission mobility.
