Significant milestone for UK trade
Frances Woodman, International Manager, shares about upcoming activities for the October edition of the SMMT International Update.
Last month, SMMT’s annual Trade Report marked a significant milestone – five years since Brexit – with the UK automotive sector having demonstrated remarkable resilience, boasting £115 billion in trade in 2024. The latest updates highlight Britain’s growing success in securing vital trade partnerships and agreements, including markets in which SMMT is actively engaged.
We recognise, however, that uncertainty remains for UK automotive businesses in a fast-changing and competitive global industry. That’s why SMMT is committed to supporting members with access to global opportunities through our international programme, as well as introductions, insights and data.
Our autumn schedule is already in full swing and recently, we partnered with the Department for Business and Trade for a visit to China, exploring new technology developments and opportunities for UK companies. This week, we’re in the USA leading our first-ever delegation to the Southeastern states of Alabama and Tennessee. Here, members will be connecting with key industry players and gaining first-hand insights into this major automotive hub.
