Honda has today resumed normal production at its Swindon car plant, to coincide with the first New Civic model rolling off the line at its UK facility. Honda of the UK Manufacturing Ltd (HUM) also announced the creation of 500 new jobs to meet a forecasted production increase in 2012.

This report forms part of the Institute’s ‘policies for change’ programme, which looks at what more could be done to rebuild and rebalance the economy. The work was supported by the SMMT, which acts as the voice of the motor industry, and who want to get a better understanding of the relationship between the financial sector andthe UK’s fast changing automotive supply chain.
