News from Gist: Gist has grown its temperature-controlled fleet, by purchasing seven new trailers designed for use in Ireland.
Complying with the Republic of Ireland’s height restrictions, the new trailers are built to height of 4.65m, rather than the standard 4.9m.
Both types of trailer are tailored to meet Gist’s requirements for delivering customers’ fresh and chilled foods, dairy and cut flowers for high street and other supermarket retailers and will be able to carry higher volumes of temperature-sensitive goods per vehicle, whilst still meeting current regulations regarding maximum permitted heights, weights and turning circles.
In the last year Gist has added 53 double-deckers to their fleet increasing pallet capacity by over 50% compared to standard 26 pallet trailers.
Martin Gwynn, Gist Chief Executive said, “These new vehicles are a great addition to our growing fleet. They allow us to deliver more product in fewer journeys, helping us to increase the efficiency of our operation and further reduce our environmental impact.
“Double-deck trailers complement our fleet of standard trailers and, with our growing presence in Ireland, it is essential that we have a fleet that can meet the requirements of our customers, as well as complying with local legislation.”
