News from Volvo: Barnes Coaches of Swindon, one of Wiltshire’s leading coach operators, has added a new Volvo B9R Jonckheere bodied coach to its fleet.
This new vehicle follows another Jonckheere with the same specification which was purchased by the company in late autumn 2013, and brings the total fleet size for the operator to 28, 12 of which feature Volvo chasses.
The 53 seat coach is mainly being used for European tour purposes and is fitted with all the latest features for the comfort and convenience of passengers, including TV screens, hot drink servery, fridge and on-board toilet.
Luke Barnes, Director of Barnes Coaches, said, “We receive great quality and value from Volvo and the back-up and support from our local Wales and West dealership is excellent, which is why we’ve turned to them again this time for our latest vehicle.
“Our customers increasingly expect a very high standard from their transport, so customer comfort and great facilities are of paramount importance to us when sourcing new vehicles.”
Richard Mann, Regional Sales Manager for Volvo Bus, added, “Barnes Coaches are a long standing customer of Volvo and we’re obviously delighted they’ve turned to us again for this latest addition to their fleet.
“Our B9R is well-known as an economic, adaptable and safe coach with driving quality, lightweight characteristics and versatility. It is also highly reliable, while offering low fuel consumption and it is a combination of these characteristics that has made it such a popular choice with many operators around the UK.”
Fitted with the rear-mounted 9-litre Volvo D9B engine and incorporating the Volvo i-Shift 12-speed fully automated mechanical gearbox, the vehicle provides a smooth, highly fuel-efficient driveline. The B9R provides a dependable foundation for high productivity and fuel economy.
