News from Citroën: A 20-strong Citroën fleet has been supplied to Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity to provide support to families who have a child with a life-threatening or terminal illness.

The new Rainbow Trust vehicles are used around-the-clock, every day of the year, by its Family Support teams across the country. They provide transport to and from hospital, take siblings to and from school and transport the children to specially tailored drop-in groups.

Each vehicle is expected to cover up to 20,000 miles annually. The charity’s Citroën fleet includes nine Berlingo Multispace e-HDi 90 ETG6 XTR models, nine Berlingo Multispace HDi 90 XTR manual versions and two C4 HDi 90 VTR manual cars.

Tinted windows are provided to give the families much valued extra privacy while on the move. The five-door Berlingo Multispace e-HDi 90 ETG6 offers the lowest CO2 emissions in the Berlingo range at just 115g/km.

As an example of how the cars will be useful to the Rainbow Trust, Sarah and Kane Crouch have to travel to Great Ormond Street Hospital in London from Brighton every week for Kane’s treatment.

Jonathan Bennett of the Rainbow Trust, said, “The Berlingo Multispace is the perfect vehicle for us, offering complete versatility within our budget. The sliding doors are invaluable for being able to lift children in and out, especially those with disabilities. The boot is huge and accessible and can accommodate wheelchairs, boxes of toys, suitcases and all the things that go with providing a service to families. The low whole-life costs of each will allow us to divert more of our finances to our vital children’s care.”
