A pair of bespoke low loaders from Andover Trailers have played their part in delivering the first of a new generation of high-tech passenger trains.
The two low loaders were ordered by Allelys Heavy Haulage, which used the vehicles to collect the new Hitachi Class 800 train from Southampton and deliver it to Melton Mowbray.
Andover Trailers built each extendable low loader to be versatile enough to handle all rail industry work carried out by Allelys, as well as general heavy haulage duties.
Robert Ford, Transport Manager at Allelys, said, “This was a very high profile movement and the trailers performed well throughout.
“You can’t acquire a trailer for this kind of work off-the-shelf; we liaised closely with the design team at Andover to get the specification just right.”
