Tesco installs Microlise telematics package to improve efficiency

Tesco has employed a new journey management telematics system from Microlise to help reduce mileage and increase efficiency of its delivery fleet. New hardware and software has been installed in 19 depots and more than 2,500 vehicles across the UK and Ireland.

Drivers have been trained to access schedule information, messaging, route guidance and voice calls via a tablet, as well as an alarm system that alerts the office to drivers in need of assistance.

Staff can access the system via a web-based portal, providing 24-hour access to fleet performance data. The solution reports on planned versus actual route and schedule adherence performance, allowing wasted miles and driver time to be minimised and route planning to be as effective as possible.

It also provides an accurate, real-time count down for departures and arrivals into depots and stores, helping to improve turnaround efficiencies.
