Three temperatures, two decks, one trailer for Cartwright

Manchester-based trailer manufacturer Cartwright is launching a new triple-temperature double deck trailer at this week’s Temperature Controlled Storage & Distribution Show in Peterborough.

The new model is a 44 pallet direct drive hydraulic lifting deck trailer with a capacity for eight pallets of frozen products and 18 pallets each of chilled and controlled ambient products.

Targeting major supermarket chains, the new trailer is unique in offering a moving deck in a triple-temperature trailer. Like its regular double-deck trailers, the new triple-temperature model offers a direct drive hydraulic moving deck and high lift suspension for loading and unloading.

Air flow within the trailer has been optimised for all three compartments to provide an even temperature distribution when loaded.

It also incorporates an aerodynamic sloping front rather than a block front, without compromising capacity or performance of the three temperature zones. The aerodynamic shape improves fuel efficiency and roll stability.

Cartwright Technical Director Lionel Curtis explained why the company has invested in the new trailer design. “Currently supermarkets generally run tri-temp trailers with a single or fixed double deck.  We have taken what we believe is the unprecedented step of launching a triple temperature trailer with a moving deck.

“We are excited that the new tri-temp trailer with a lifting deck will offer supermarkets the capacity for the first time to have one single journey to a store with all three temperatures.

“We are confident the tri-temp will generate serious interest from the major supermarkets and help us to achieve our objective of building market share in this sector and ultimately becoming a major player.”
