Cartwright Group, the leading UK trailer manufacturer, has collaborated with retailer Poundworld on a new trailer concept.
Poundworld approached Cartwright to design and build a bespoke curtainside trailer with a tapered design allowing smaller items to be packed towards the front, with taller pallets loaded at the rear to use the space as efficiently as possible. The result was a trailer that could carry 52 pallets while still using the existing fleet of standard height tractor units.
Thanks to the new trailers, Poundworld will be able to deliver 25% more pallets between their 500,000 square feet distribution centre in West Yorkshire and satellites in Scotland, Bristol and London. The new trailers will join Poundworld’s existing fleet of 100 trailers and will support the company’s plans to expand beyond its current 7,000 employees and 358 stores.
