Culina Group has boosted its 2,400-strong UK fleet with the purchase of 134 Volvo FH 460 6×2 tractor units. The company sited excellent fuel savings and driver comfort as being two of the main reasons for its decision.
The FH 460s are fitted with Volvo’s latest D13K engine, providing 460 hp and 2300Nm of torque, Dynafleet telematics system and long-haul fuel package. The trucks have been specified for an optimised blend of economy and comfort, with a medium height chassis and removal of the external sun visor aiding aerodynamics and fuel efficiency. The Globetrotter cabs are fitted with Drive Plus and Single Bed Living packages, leather seats, fridge and media package with satellite navigation.
Culina Group stated that the vehicles will cover between 93,000 and 161,000 miles per year and will remain in service for three years.
Culina Group fleet director, Mark Matkin, said, “We opted for Volvo after comparing the FH closely against equivalent vehicles from most of the other major manufacturers. As well as being the most competitive on fuel, the Globetrotter cab scored highly for driver comfort; plus with Volvo we get the peace of mind of a dealer network which goes above and beyond to look after us.”
