Transdev has announced the acquisition of Yorkshire Tiger from Arriva UK Bus. The company stated that the deal, set to take effect from this summer, will not impact Arriva employees, who will transition to Transdev terms as part of the agreement.
The acquisition is set to include Arriva depots at Elland, near Halifax and Waterloo, Huddersfield, plus 61 buses. 163 drivers, engineers, cleaning and support staff based across the two depots will join Transdev’s 1,200 existing employees. Arriva will retain the 231 and 232 Huddersfield-Wakefield routes.
Transdev Blazefield CEO, Alex Hornby said, “We are thrilled to be growing our team and our company, and are really looking forward to serving this part of West Yorkshire for the first time. This demonstrates Transdev’s long-term commitment to develop our business here in the north of England, building on a clear track record of success. At this critical time for the bus, we believe it can play a key role in enabling our economic recovery, both locally and nationally.”
Current day and season passes for Yorkshire Tiger are expected to be integrated into Transdev’s unlimited travel ticket offering. Tickets for West Yorkshire Metro will continue to be valid.
