Barnes Coaches of Swindon has taken delivery of a new Irizar Integral i6 coach – the 12th of its type added to the fleet since 2015.
The new tri-axle features DAF’s 11-litre coach engine, the MX-11 330, with an output of 449hp and drives through the ZF Ecolife Coachline fully-automatic transmission.
At 14 metres, the tri-axle features 61 passenger seats trimmed with synthetic leather headrests, laterals, and piping.
Each seat also features magazine nets, seatback tables, multi-position footrests as well as USB charging points supplied throughout the saloon.
Leather driver and courier seats have been chosen and there is a vacuum cleaner system installed.
Entertainment is provided by the Bosch Smart Series audio visual system and Actia DVD player supplied with two monitors.
Other refinements include an onboard drinks machine, lower aisle coloured lighting, a washroom located in the central stairwell, black-tint windows and factory-applied vinyls.
Barnes Coaches was established more than 100 years ago by the Barnes family, and current directors Matt and Luke are the fourth generation to run it.
The coach will mainly be used on European Touring work but will also be used on the firm’s private hire and corporate work closer to home.
Luke Barnes, Director, said: “As always, Irizar UK are a pleasure to deal with, so we were more than happy to place this order with them.
“The 14 metre i6 offers exceptional passenger comfort and has the added benefit of having cavernous luggage lockers which can be a huge bonus when purchasing a coach to seat 61 passengers.”
