Ford has approved an investment of £181 million at its Bridgend Engine Plant in South Wales, to produce a family of all-new, technologically-advanced, fuel-efficient petrol engines. The amount includes backing from the Welsh government to the tune of £14.7 million, with production planned to start in late 2018.

In response to the Transport Secretary’s statement on vehicle testing from 24 September 2015, SMMT welcomes the initiative.

UK engine output rises 15.8% in August, with 112,777 units produced.

UK commercial vehicle manufacturing posts strong gains in August, with volumes up 70.3%.

99,910 cars built in the UK in August – a rise of 40.6% over the same month last year.
Year-to-date output up 1.6%, passing the one million mark in August for first time since 2008.
