British motorists could see their annual car service and repair costs rise by 10% to £777 after Brexit if no deal is reached between the UK and the EU. A new report published today by SMMT shows that the UK’s collective car repair bill could rise by more than £2 billion if tariffs and other barriers to trade are imposed.

Today, SMMT released figures for June pre-registrations in the UK new car market. The data shows the number of cars disposed of by vehicle manufacturers in June 2017 that were defined as pre-registrations. CLICK HERE: Download the June 2017 release.

Engine manufacturing remains robust year-to-date, with demand up 3.6% overall in the first half-year. Performance of UK and overseas markets more closely aligned after exports drop -3.2% in the month, compared with a smaller -0.9% fall at home. June only

British commercial vehicle manufacturing falls -4.7% in June 2017 with 7,324 CVs built last month. Production in first six months declines -8.1% to 43,782 units. Exports rise for first half of 2017, up 11.9% with 27,818 UK-built CVs sold internationally.
