Haulier and earthworks contractor Fox Brothers has acquired Clive Hurt Plant Hire in its entirety. The deal, which was for an undisclosed sum, creates a business with a near-£50m turnover, 320 staff, a fleet of 150 trucks and 400 operational plant machines.
Both Blackpool-based Fox Brothers and Clive Hurt Plant Hire, headquartered in Leyland, will continue operation under their separate brands from their original locations.
Paul Fox, who will head-up the group management team, said, “This acquisition is an incredible opportunity to unlock the potential of both businesses. Even before this deal we were considered leaders in our respective fields. We will be one of the main providers of earthworks and aggregates transport in the north west and we will be able to provide a ‘one-stop-shop’ solution for housebuilders, infrastructure, construction and civils contractors. We will also have the capability to tackle larger and more complex engineering projects.”
The group management team will also include director, Alan Fox; group commercial and strategic director, John Flood; commercial director, Lee Stinger; and operations manager, Richard Hurt.
Fox Brothers also stated that, as part of the acquisition, sister company Fox Brothers (Blackpool) Limited, a property specialist, would purchase Clive Hurt Plant Hire’s Sandham House depot in Leyland.
