SMMT is today hosting a dedicated supply chain networking event in the West Midlands, bringing together around 25 vehicle manufacturers and Tier 1 suppliers with over 150 UK-based automotive component companies to explore new business prospects and local sourcing opportunities.

More than 1,100 new jobs are being created by Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) at its Castle Bromwich facility to support the launch of new Jaguar models. The company, which is the UK’s largest automotive design, engineering and manufacturing employer, already boasts a team of around 24,000 people.

Vauxhall today confirmed that it will invest £125 million to continue manufacturing at its Ellesmere Port plant in Cheshire, creating 700 new jobs.

Government today announced the winning bids under the third round of the Green Bus Fund for hybrid, electric and gas buses. The £31 million Green Bus Fund will see 439 new low carbon buses come to UK roads, the majority of which are expected to be manufactured in the UK.

Today, SMMT unveiled the second exciting exhibit at its Westminster HQ; the UK-designed, engineered and built, Range Rover Evoque, which goes on sale this week.
