  • New dates, longer days and better weather
  • New name and live action at the Show
  • New features to boost visitor excitement

A new date, new name and a host of new attractions will wow the crowds at Britain’s biggest consumer show at the NEC in Birmingham, when the lights come on and the doors open to the press on 25 May 2004.

For the first time at an international motor show, visitors can join in and experience the fun and passion of live action at the Show, both on and off-road. Young drivers will also have the chance to get their first drive, too.

‘Britain has always been at the forefront of design and innovation from the Swinging Sixties through to Cool Britannia, and now Britain’s Motor Show is set to take the lead and rock the automotive world,’ said the show chairman Tod Evans, Chairman of Peugeot Citroën Automobiles UK Ltd. ‘Motor Show Live is the new name for a new kind of event with new cars and new opportunities for visitors to drive at the Show. The industry has decided that the days of visitors looking at static cars on stands have long gone and it’s time to roll back the carpet and show the world how it can be done’.

The British International Motor Show Live will present cars at their best both indoors and out, with the emphasis on ‘Live’. The new dates – 26 May to 6 June 2004 – mean longer daylight hours and summer weather too.

Britain’s premier exhibition centre at the NEC, Birmingham is working with the motor industry to bring new and dynamic opportunities for driving and live action at the purpose- built site in the heart of the UK motor industry.

‘After many successful motor shows, we’re delighted to be working closely with the motor industry to make best use of the flexible facilities at the NEC and deliver live action for visitors,’ said Barry Cleverdon OBE, chief executive of NEC Group Ltd. ‘It’s an exciting opportunity to put into action a wide range of innovative ideas and approaches that add new dimensions to this major international event’.
