The October European Car and Light Commercial Vehicle Production Outlook is now available from SMMT.

The report, free to members, shows that across Europe, vehicle production volumes in 2009 will be down by over 3.5 million compared to 2008 and nearly 25% down compared to 2007. The October edition also reviews the latest state of the market, including an update on the results from the scrappage incentive schemes operating in the region, as well as a review of the impact of the current economic situation and its implications for the car industry as a whole.
The report is especially valuable for any business interested in information on the timing of new models with insights into future models, which have yet to be officially confirmed. Available to download via the SMMT website, the Production Outlook includes total market data, with actual data for 2007 and 2008 and projections through to 2012. Discussion focuses on production over-capacity and the extent to which it is being addressed. Commentary on the future of potentially vulnerable assembly plants in light of the rapid realignment and restructuring amongst the vehicle companies is also included.

The series of European Car and Light Commercial Vehicle Production Outlook reports are free for SMMT members, and are also available to non-members at the price of £4,000.
