SMMT Update – 26 August 2011

26 August 2011 #SMMT News

This week, I was delighted to announce that Tim Abbott, Ralf Speth and Robin Woolcock have agreed to become Vice Presidents of SMMT. They join Nigel Stein, Joe Greenwell, Bill Parfitt and John Neill as the honorary officers of the Society. I am extremely grateful for their advice and guidance, which helps to keep SMMT focussed on important issues and the requirements of all sections of industry and all scale of operations. The experience and insight they bring is extremely important as SMMT continues to support the UK motor industry and works to secure an even more prosperous future for each of our members.

Also this week, the deadline passed for entries to this year’s Award for Automotive Innovation. We have received a large number of exceptional submissions from a variety of industry sectors, each demonstrating qualities that help make UK automotive one of the most dynamic and exciting places to work.  Entries have capitalised on the UK’s engineering excellence and low carbon leadership, highlighting the significant investment in R&D and new technologies.
