The organisers of the Commercial Vehicle Show 2012 and Workshop 2012 have announced that, subject to ABC Audit, the attendance figure for this year’s Show exceeded 16,000 visitors, once again topping the figure for the previous year.

Paul Everitt, SMMT Chief Executive said, “2012 was another great year for the CV Show with a high number of quality visitors and a great response from exhibitors. We’re already looking forward to 2013 when the Show will have official international accreditation, recognising the significance of the event and the UK road transport industry.”

Analysis of the demographics gathered from ticket applications is as follows:

  • 26% MD/Owner/Partner.
  • 6.9% Other Director.
  • 33.8% Transport Manager/Other Manager.
  • 15% Engineer/Technician.
  • 5.6% Consultant.
  • 12.7% Other.

The following proportions of those attending claimed responsibility for purchasing or specifying commercial vehicles and associated products:

  • 61.6% trucks.
  • 47.1% vans.
  • 24.9%  trailers.
  • 36.4% tankers, tippers or reefers.
  • 24.1% fuel.
  • 20.2% lubricants.
  • 33.9% replacement parts.

“This is great news for the Show’s future development and for the industry in general,” said RHA Chief Executive Geoff Dunning. “It is extremely encouraging to know that, despite the uncertainty in other areas of British industry, the optimism that exists in the road freight sector remains extremely buoyant. This was initially apparent from the number of exhibitors present – 10% up on 2011 – and to have over 16,000 visitors in three packed days, from not only the UK but also from overseas, undeniably confirms it.”

“From an engineer’s perspective,” said Nick Jones, Chief Executive of the Society of Operations Engineers, “it was excellent to see so many visitors involved in the technical side of the business. The range of exhibitors at this year’s Show underlines the fact that there really is something there for everyone.”

The Commercial Vehicle Show is owned by the CV Show LLP, comprising the Road Haulage Association, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders and IRTE Services Ltd, the trading company of the SOE (Society of Operations Engineers). Crystal Communications will manage the Show organisation, stand sales and marketing.
