Focus on future talent for National Apprenticeship week

As part of National Apprenticeship Week, SMMT will host a webinar focussing on skills and training in the automotive industry.

On the panel:

  • Yung Tran: Head of Member Services and Business Improvement, SMMT
  • Richard Smith: Engagement Director, Talent Retention Solution (TRS)
  • Carolyn Mason: Policy and Funding Manager, Sector Manager Automotive and Aerospace, Semta

It will be co-presented by Richard Smith and Carolyn Mason. Richard Smith will explain Talent Retention Solution’s focus on talent development and retention, as well as the role of universities. He will also introduce the new TRS website. Semta is responsible for representing a 1.7 million-strong workforce in the UK. They will be presenting on what help is available to develop companies’ skills capabilities.

The presentations will be followed by a Q&A session.

The automotive sector is one of the largest providers of apprenticeships in the UK, and SMMT in collaboration with SEMTA (Sector Skills Council for Science, Engineering and Manufacturing Technologies) will be hosting a seminar and reception event on Monday 11 March to kick-off National Apprenticeship Week. Celebrating the career opportunities in UK automotive and the strength of the apprenticeship programmes on offer, the event will bring together senior delegates from across the motor industry, government officials and apprentices representing a range of automotive companies.
