SMMT is today hosting a dedicated supply chain networking event in the West Midlands, bringing together around 25 vehicle manufacturers and Tier 1 suppliers with over 150 UK-based automotive component companies to explore new business prospects and local sourcing opportunities.
With more than 300 one-to-one meetings expected to take place at the event, SMMT’s Meet the Buyer is largest business exchange event of its kind, demonstrating industry’s appetite to increase domestic sourcing and providing a platform to build new local partnerships. Attending delegates will also benefit from a series of presentations delivered by senior representatives from industry who will offer insight on the outlook for the automotive supply chain ahead of the day’s scheduled meetings.
Vehicle manufacturers and Tier 1 suppliers attending today’s Meet the Buyer event as buying organisations include Aisin Europe, Aston Martin, Bentley, BMW, Briggs Automotive, Brose, CAB Automotive, Calsonic Kansei, Faurecia, Ford, Futaba Industrial, General Motors, Grupo Antolin, Honda, Houghton Parkhouse, JLR, Koito Europe, Leyland Trucks, LUK/Schaeffler, Nissan, Nissin Showa, Perkins Engines/Caterpillar, Renault, Scorpion Automotive, Sears Manufacturing and Yamada Europe.
Building on the success of previous year’s events, SMMT is also introducing a new facilitated networking service at the event that will match supply companies with one another, generating informal meetings to further broaden the business opportunities at the event.
The participating supply chain companies for this event were selected via SMMT’s Automotive Supplier Finder (ASF) database (www.autosupplierfinder.com), a tool designed specifically to match buyers to suppliers based on the UK automotive commodity demand list that was published earlier this year.
