Component manufacturer, Stadco, has confirmed a £15 million investment in its Telford-based facility that will support the installation of a new production line at the site.

As a result of new high-value contracts with a UK-based vehicle manufacturer, Stadco’s new production line will include a 4,000-ton transfer press – one of the largest in Europe.

This will ensure that Stadco’s Telford plant will be able to produce up to four parts at a time, at a rate of up to 3,200 parts per hour to suit high-volume vehicle manufacturing.

The new line will be installed early next year, with full production expected to start in December 2014.

Stadco Telford’s Facility Director, Ray Macera said, “This investment will ensure Telford remains one of the UK’s top manufacturing facilities, with leading-edge equipment and capabilities. The additional work this new line will generate is a positive step to ensuring secure jobs for local people and will help us to provide the best service to our automotive customers.”

Stadco acquired the Telford site in February 2011, a move that created 50 new jobs in the region. The site has two large mechanical stamping lines, a fully-equipped tool room and extensive assembly capability, which support Stadco in its position as the largest independent UK-based international supplier of automotive components.
