Last week (Thursday 24 October), a cross-party group of parliamentarians visited the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking where engineering skills were high on the agenda.
Commenting on the visit, Richard Burden MP, Shadow Transport Minister and Chair of the Motor APPG, said, “Our cross-party parliamentary group meet to address issues of strategic importance to UK automotive industry and our visit to McLaren this week was the perfect example of that. We have not only seen why the McLaren Group is such a successful motorsport team, but why the Group is leading innovation in automotive production, engineering and manufacturing too.
“The partnerships developing in Woking to apply automotive technologies to other industries is incredibly exciting. As we look to scale up low-carbon innovation and build skills for a new generation of employees to strengthen UK automotive for the future, we can certainly learn a lot from McLaren’s innovation and growth.”
