BMW providing low-emission vehicle fleet for London 2012

04 January 2012 #Sustainability Case studies

As the official automotive partner of London 2012 BMW will provide low-emission diesel, hybrid and electric cars as well as motorcycles and bicycles to the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) in support of the Games.

The BMW low-emission vehicle fleet will provide essential mobility for athletes and officials that is vital for the operational success of the Games and that will achieve the challenging 120g/km CO2 emission threshold required by LOCOG.

The majority of the fleet will be made up of highly efficient diesel-powered cars, featuring Efficient Dynamics technologies. In addition, the fleet will include 200 MINI Es and BMW 1 Series Active Es as well as motorcycles and bicycles.

BMW Hybrid cars as well as electrically-assisted bicycles will make their first appearance on British roads at Games time. As the automotive sector leader in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index for the seventh consecutive year, BMW’s sustainability credentials make it a natural partner for London 2012.
