News from Scania: Dunwood Travel has expanded its coaching operations with the addition of a Scania Irizar i6 coach, the third to be ordered since the company took the decision to begin running its own vehicles earlier this year.
Due for delivery in March 2015, the order for the 53-seater was signed by Dunwood Travel Directors Colin Duncan and Phil Westwood at Euro Bus Expo 2014.
“Over the past two decades we have been growing the business and building our customer base by combining a quality proposition with customer focus and sheer hard work,” comments Colin Duncan. “Today, our clients demand the very best from us. Hence the decision to begin operating our own vehicles, which enables us to take complete control over the service we provide.”
“With Scania we are buying into a quality brand with a reputation for reliability,” adds Phil Westwood. “In addition to the vehicle itself, the two year repair and maintenance agreement provided by Scania was a key factor for us as it gives us access to Scania’s resources and service infrastructure no matter where the vehicle happens to be – we can even have the vehicle maintained while it is away.”
Equipped with Scania’s 360 horsepower Euro-5 engine and fully automated Opticruise gear-selection system, Dunwood Travel’s new coach will also feature air conditioning, a centre toilet, DVD with two monitors and three-point seat belts.
Based in Dudley, Dunwood Travel operates a broad range of UK and continental tours and currently carries approximately 30,000 passengers a year.
