Demand for new commercial vehicles in Europe grew again in April 2015, with registrations rising 12.2% compared with last year, to reach 169,746 units. The UK led this growth, with a 22.8% rise, while other key markets also saw an increase in demand in April, including Spain (18.5%), Italy (9%), Germany (7%) and France (1.4%).
New CV registration figures for the first four months of the year were also positive, as demand rose 13% in Europe to a total of 671,701 vehicles registered. Spain, the UK, Italy and Germany all posted increases, of 35.2%, 23.9%, 7.6% and 7.1% respectively for the year-to-date, while the French market remained stable at 0.01% growth.
Demand increased across all commercial vehicle segments, with heavy trucks (over 16t) posting a staggering 20.8% rise in April. Similarly, 3.5-16t trucks were up 15% and LCVs increased 11.8% to 139,598 units. Demand for new buses and coaches also grew in April, with registrations rising 15% compared to 2014.
